PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly color rendering fluorescent lamp having excellent color rendering properties as well as an excellent luminous efficiency, to provide a color fluorescent lamp having an excellent luminous efficiency, and to provide a phosphor for a fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: The highly color rendering fluorescent lamp having excellent color rendering properties as well as an excellent luminous efficiency, and the color fluorescent lamp having an excellent luminous efficiency are obtained from a fluorescent lamp prepared by coating a luminescent composition comprising a yellow-based light emitting phosphor expressed by the following formula and having a light-emitting peak in the wavelength range of 530-590 nm, onto an inside wall of a glass tube: (Tb<SB>1-a-b</SB>Ce<SB>a</SB>M<SB>b</SB>)<SB>3</SB>(Al<SB>1-c</SB>Ga<SB>c</SB>)<SB>5</SB>O<SB>12</SB>(in the formula, M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Sc, Y, La, Gd, Lu and Pr; and a, b and c satisfy the following numeric values: 0.0001≤a≤0.5, 0≤b≤0.8, 0.01≤a+b≤0.9 and 0≤c≤0.8).
