PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin fluid-pressure actuator which can support a large load. SOLUTION: The fluid-pressure actuator includes a cylinder body which is opened at one end and is closed at the other end, a piston slidably arranged in the cylinder body, and a pressure chamber located between an inner wall of the cylinder body and the piston. In the fluid-pressure actuator, the piston is provided with a through hole having one end opened in the pressure chamber and the other end opened in the exterior of the pressure chamber. The through hole is equipped with a relief valve of a working fluid. Further, the piston is provided with a load detecting member which detects the load acting on a piston operating surface so as to retain the relief valve in a closure state.
