METHOD FOR PRODUCING PENICILLANIC ACID COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a penicillanic acid compound expressed by formula (2) (R is a carboxy-protecting group; and n is an integer of 0 to 2), capable of industrially advantageously producing the compound by safe and simple operations, without exhibiting industrial disadvantages.

SOLUTION: This method for producing the penicillanic acid compound expressed by formula (2) comprises comprises reacting a halogenated penicillanic acid compound expressed bt formula (1) (X and Y are each H or a halogen, provided that X and Y are not allowed to be H at the same time) with (b) a metal having a standard oxidation-reduction potential lower than that of bismuth in the presence of (a) metallic bismuth or a bismuth compound.
