PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dimensions of a barrel of a zoom lens in the direction of an optical axis and to suppress the increase of the dimensions in the radial direction. SOLUTION: An outer cylinder 17 is provided on the outside of a rotary cylinder 15 having a cam groove hole formed therein and is provided with a driving gear 17a, a finder coupling part, and a rib 17c or the like being a zoom position detecting means. This constitution makes it possible that the overall length in the direction of the optical axis of the rotary cylinder 15 is used to form the cam groove hole giving a long extent of feeding-out, and dimensions in the direction of the optical axis are reduced. Further, since the moment of the driving gear 17a, the moment of the finder coupling part, etc. are not applied to the rotary cylinder 15, the rotary cylinder 15 can be made thin to minimize the increase of dimensions in the radial direction of the lens barrel.
