PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized zoom lens for a liquid crystal projector. SOLUTION: The zoom lens is constituted of negative, positive, positive, positive, negative and positive lens groups in this order from a magnifying side, and a distance between a 2nd lens group and a 3rd lens group is shortened at zooming. A 5th lens group is shifted to a screen side (magnifying side), a 4th lens group is shifted to the screen side (magnifying side), the 2nd lens group is shifted to a panel side (reduction side), a 1st lens group and a 6th lens group are fixed.
