PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container and a dump truck for carrying earth and sand, which can easily carry out the work for loading the earth and sand, etc. on a load carrying platform, and can comparatively safely carry out the work for unloading the earth and sand, etc. at a disposal site. SOLUTION: The container 13 for carrying earth and sand comprises a bottom plate 13c and side walls 13a so as to open the upper side, connecting members 17 which can be detachably connected to a wire rope of a lifting apparatus and can dangle outside of the container after releasing the connection, and engaging portions 14 to be engaged with supports 18 of the load carrying platform. When the container for carrying earth and sand has been put on the load carrying platform 12 of the dump truck 10 for carrying earth and sand, the engaging portions 14 are detachably engaged with the supports 18.
