PURPOSE: A motor and gear box supporting structure for a vertical seat regulating device of a vehicle is provided to simplify a layout and to reduce the weight by supporting a motor and a gear box with a hinge pipe for changing a rectilinear motion of a screw into a vertical rotary motion of a hinge member. CONSTITUTION: A motor and gear box supporting structure for a vertical seat regulating device of a vehicle is composed of motors(111,121) and gear boxes(112,122) for regulating longitudinally and vertically a seat; screws(113,123) connected to each gear box to move rectilinearly; hinge pipes(114,124) mounted horizontally at front and rear sides of a seat track(1a,1b); and a hinge member(115a,115b,125a,125b) for converting a rectilinear motion of the screw into a vertical motion of a seat cushion frame about each hinge pipe. A front vertical regulating gear box is supported in a rear vertical regulating gear box and the rear vertical regulating gear box is supported in the front vertical regulating gear box. Each gear box is pin-connected to a bracket unit(134) of a support pipe(131a,131b) of which axial movement and rotation are restricted, and accordingly is rotatively supported on the correspondent hinge pipe. The support pipes are fitted and mounted on the outer periphery of the correspondent hinge pipe by a bearing(133).
