Disclosed is a surface protection film which can be easily separated from an adhesive silicone rubber layer and contains no residual solvent which has an adverse affect on adhesion of the adhesive silicone rubber layer to a semiconductor chip or the like. Furthermore, the surface protection film is excellent in surface smoothness so as to avoid having an adverse affect on surface flatness of the adhesive silicone rubber layer. Also disclosed is a method for producing such a surface protection film. A surface protection film for protecting an adhesive silicone rubber layer (C) wherein a polysulfone resin layer (B) is superposed on at least one side of a base film (A) is characterized in that the polysulfone resin layer (B) is composed of a polysulfone resin solution composition obtained by dissolving at least one kind of polysulfone resin in a mixed solvent consisting of specific three or four components.
