<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head protection airbag device capable of protecting the airbag until it is installed at a vehicle and further capable of restricting an amount of protrusion of a roof-rail garnish into a vehicle compartment at the time of operation. <P>SOLUTION: A head protection airbag device M1 comprises an airbag 41, one plate-like roof rail garnish 19 covering a vehicle interior side I of the folded airbag facing a vehicle compartment and having a door part 22 opened while being pushed by the airbag developed and expanded at the lower edge, and inflator. This device is installed at a vehicle V under a state in which it is integrally assembled as an airbag assembly A1. The airbag assembly A1 has a cover part 34 comprising a bottom wall part 35 extending from an outer surface 22b of the door outside the vehicle and covering a lower end surface 41c of the airbag, and a side wall part 36 covering a side surface 41d of the airbag outside the vehicle over a substantial entire length of the folded airbag.
