PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for diagnosing a communication state and its apparatus for diagnosing the communication state as required. SOLUTION: A center 20 transmits a request command for diagnosing the communication state to a vehicle 10. The vehicle 10 receives the request command and ECUs 11, 15 cooperates to execute a communication abnormality diagnostic program. An ECU 15 supplies the request command to ECUs 16, 17, 18 and 19. The ECUs 16-19 output status information indicating whether or not the ECUs 16-19 operate normally as responses. At this time, the center 20 further requests transmission of failure information if abnormalities occur in each ECU 16-19.
