PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional shape detector, of inexpensive and simple constitution reduced in electric power consumption, for detecting a three-dimensional shape of an object using the slit beam without contacting with the object. SOLUTION: This imaging device 1 divides a laser beam output from a laser diode 21 into two beams of high power (95%) and low power (5%) by a transparent flat plane 24, to be transformed into the the first slit beam 71 with a prescribed angle width (48 degree), and the second slit beam 72 having an angle width (2.4 degree) relatively narrower than that of the first slit beam 71, in a slit beam projection unit 20, and emits them. An image of a document P projected with the slit beams is picked up from a position separated by a fixed distance with respect to the slit beams, by a CCD image sensor 32, calculates positions of locus of the slit beams projected to the document P, based on the image, and the three-dimensional shape of the object is found, and the picked-up image data is stored in a card memory 55 as a plane image data corrected as the document P is observed from its front face.
