PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversible thermosensitive recording medium or the like which, even when repeatedly used in recording and erasing, scarcely undergoes deterioration in images caused by mechanical surface damage.

SOLUTION: This reversible thermosensitive recording medium comprises a support and at least a thermosensitive layer and a protective layer provided in that order on the support. The thermosensitive layer comprises an electron-donating coloring compound and an electron-accepting compound and reversibly changes the color depending on temperatures. The protective layer comprises a hetero ring-containing reactive compound and inorganic fine particles of which surface is at least partially hydrophobilized. Alternatively, the protective layer comprises inorganic fine particles of which the number-average particle diameter is 100 nm or less and of which the surface is coated with an organic silane compound. The hetero ring-containing reactive compound is preferably at least one compound selected from hetero ring-containing reactive monomers and hetero ring-containing reactive oligomers.
