PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce influence of failure or abnormality even in the case where failure or abnormality occurs in the operation of an opening and closing valve of a variable valve system including an electromagnetically driven valve. SOLUTION: The control device of the electromagnetically driven valve controls the electromagnetically driven valve including at least either an electromagnetically driven exhaust valve for opening and closing an exhaust valve or an electromagnetically driven intake valve for opening and closing an intake valve. The control device includes: a first determination means for determining whether or not the valve opening seating of the electromagnetically driven valve fails; and a fail-safe means for controlling the electromagnetically driven valve to again open the electromagnetically driven valve in the same stroke when the first determination means determines that the valve opening seating fails.
