The gateway has an ADSL modem (1b) to access a remote telecommunication network (20). A switching fabric (1g) establishes a call from a calling terminal e.g. mobile telephone (7) and fixed telephone (11), to a called terminal through one mode preselected from two communication modes. The preselected mode corresponds to a least cost value among two cost values calculated for two respective rating data associated to the modes. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a device for establishing communication from a calling telecommunication terminal towards a called telecommunication terminal (b) a method for establishing communication from a calling telecommunication terminal towards a called telecommunication terminal.
