PURPOSE: A character information-providing device for a vehicle is provided to enable a driver to automatically transmit rescue information and advertising sentence, and the like to the outside of the vehicle according to the circumstances or the movement of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A character information-providing device for a vehicle comprises an emergency switch(310) arranged to a side of a driver's seat of the vehicle; sensors(204,206,208) each connected to turn signal lamps, a brake(314), fog lamps(316), and the emergency switch to sense the starting of the vehicle; an information display part(320) receiving electric power from a battery(100) of the vehicle and displaying character information if the vehicle is stared; a control part(210) controlling the character information output from the information display part according to the information sensed from the brake sensor, the fog lamp sensors, and the turn signal lamp sensors; and a character information database(212) storing the character information displayed on the information display part and transmitting the stored character information to the information display part according to the control of the control part.
