PURPOSE: A method for controlling a lamp of an elevator is provided to maximize the convenience, to enhance the design, and to decrease power consumption by adjusting the brightness of the lighting apparatus for the elevator corresponding to the travel condition of the elevator. CONSTITUTION: The presence of passengers is detected in an elevator, and the brightness of the lamp is adjusted according to the condition of the elevator in deciding the absence of the passenger. The brightness of the lamp is regulated according to the present travel condition of the elevator in detecting the presence of the passenger. The external environment is decided to be night(S30). The brightness of the lamp for the elevator is adjusted and the color of the lamp is regulated in detecting the night(S32). The present brightness and the present color of the lamp are maintained in case of detecting the daylight(S31).
