PURPOSE: A method for displaying a received short message in a wireless communication terminal is provided to convert emoticons or specific words included in a short message into preset icons, and to add animation effects to the icons when displaying the short message, thereby supplying a more vivid and visual short message. CONSTITUTION: A wireless communication terminal sets received short message conversion information at the request of a user(201). The wireless communication terminal receives a short message, and converts the received short message according to the set received short message conversion information(202,203). The wireless communication terminal displays the converted short message(204). When setting the received short message conversion information, animation effects to be applied to emoticons or specific words included in the short message are set.
