SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR VIRTUALLY EDITING MULTIMEDIA BOOKMARKS AND VIDEO ON INTERNET

PURPOSE: A system and a method for virtually editing multimedia bookmarks and video on the Internet are provided to enable any device connected to the network to conveniently generate/store/index/search/render multimedia information by using bookmark information recorded to the multimedia bookmark or contents information of a segment including a bookmark position. CONSTITUTION: A network controller(2820) controls access to the input video(2814) and a corresponding metafile(2812) stored in computers connected through the network. A file controller(2822) controls the access to the input video and the corresponding metafile transmitted through the network controller or stored in the local computer. An XML(eXtensible Markup Language) parser(2824) checks contents of the metafile provided from the file controller. A structure manager(2828) provides an editing function needed for the virtual edit to the user. An XML generator(2834) stores the edited metadata(2842) to a permanent storage by a preset format. A play list generator(2836) dynamically generates a play list for the segment using the segment data provided from the structure manager.
