1. A device for placing accurately in position in space a piece of clothing having a defined edge, comprising a horizontal frame (1) containing a transparent and porous carrier-cloth (2) which is mounted to be movable in at least two directions, is coupled to means of movement and is associated with detectors which act through the said cloth (2), characterized in that the frame (1) is movable in a first direction under the action of a first jack (5) which is mounted to be movable relatively to this frame (1) at least partially in the second direction and is associated with a detector (A) of a point on the piece (V) which is laid on the cloth (2), the said frame (1) being movable in the second direction by two jacke (10, 11) spaced apart, of which at least one (10 or 11) is mounted to be movable relatively to this frame at least partially in the first direction, the said jacks being associated respectively with respective detectors (B, C) each of which detects one point on one and the same edge of the piece (V).
