This machine tool is of the type comprising a saddle 17 mounted to move on a guide 19 under the control of advance means. According to the invention, the guide 19 consists of a hollow beam, the said hollow beam is open longitudinally via a slit over at least part of its length, and the means for advancing the saddle are housed in this hollow beam, being in engagement with the said saddle 17 by virtue of the said slit in the former.
