FIELD: water treatment. ^ SUBSTANCE: thermally untreated calcium carbonate containing up to 1% manganese carbonate is consecutively subjected to three-step chemical treatment: with 0.01-10% manganese(II) salt solution, 0.001-5.0% manganese(VII) salt solution, and 0.1-10% potassium or sodium alkali solution interrupted after first and second chemical treatment steps by intermediate drying of material at 10 to 100 to residual moisture 10 to 100%, while, after third chemical treatment step, material is finally dried at 50-300 to residual moisture content up to 5%. ^ EFFECT: lowered process expenses and improved properties of sorbent: improved kinetic characteristics and elevated adsorption capacity concerning iron and manganese compounds. ^ 3 cl, 1 dwg, 4 ex |
