METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DECELERATING AND TEMPORARILY ACCUMULATING LONG HOT ROLLED PRODUCTS SUCH AS BAR AND ROD IN SELECTED STEP OF HOT ROLLING PROCESS

PURPOSE: To provide a method and an apparatus capable of rolling a smaller sized product while maintaining a rolling mill treatment speed to an allowable maximum speed or more without need for size reduction of a billet to be treated and preferably continuously rolling the product at the maximum tonnage ratio of a rolling mill. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus(10) for decelerating a hot rolled product longitudinally moved along an axis at a first velocity(V1), the apparatus comprises a curve guiding part comprising an entrance end part aligned with the axis to receive the product, and an exit end part radially spaced from the axis and aligned such that the product is conveyed in an exit direction that traverses the axis; a first driving means for rotating the curve guiding part around the axis in a direction opposite to the exit direction at a speed of the exit end part having a second velocity(V2) such that the product is conveyed in a shape of a helix from the exit end part at a third velocity(V3) obtained by subtracting the second velocity(V2) from the first velocity(V1); a cylindrical drum(30) arranged such that the drum is rotated around the axis, and the helix is axially contained in the drum; a second driving means for rotating the drum in a direction opposite to a rotation direction of the curve guiding part at a speed in which the product is unwound from the drum at the third velocity; and a receiving means for receiving the product unwound from the drum.
