CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD FOR CAST BILLET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method with which the central part defects of a cast billet can be reduced by optimizing the cooling conditions for the cast billet at the end period of solidification. SOLUTION: The continuous casting method for the cast billet comprises forcibly cooling the cast billet with water at the end period of solidification. When performing forced water-cooling of the billet surface from the position where the solid phase rate in the central part of the cast billet attains 0.10 to 0.80 to the position where the solid phase rate attains≥0.99, the surface temperature of the cast billet in the final position of the forced water-cooling is set to a range from the A3transformation temperature to (the A3transformation temperature-100°C) of steel or a range from the Acm transformation temperature to (the Acm transformation temperature-100°C) of the steel.
