PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine controller having a battery state judging function, in which the completion of charging of a battery is judged in time regardless of a fluctuation in a charging current of a generator. SOLUTION: The engine controller consists of a charge completion judging part (33) which judges charging is completed when a difference between a generated current detected during the operation of an alternator (4) and a consumed current by an electric load reaches a prescribed value, and of a charging rate estimating part (34) for estimating the state of charging of the battery at the judging of the charging based on a battery voltage detected at the judging.
