PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high heat efficiency fixing device comprising a heat generation belt which can be heated to a predetermined fixing temperature in a short period of time and a pressure belt. SOLUTION: A fixing device 10 includes an annular heat generation belt 11 having a resistive heating element 14 inside; a pressure roller 12 which is pressure bonded to the outside of the heat generation belt 11; and a pad member 13 disposed inside the heat generation belt 11. An electrode part 14a for the resistive heating element 14 is formed at the end of the heat generation belt 11 in the axial direction of its cylinder and on the internal face of the heat generation belt in the circumferential direction. A power supply brush 20 is provided at an end of the pad member 13 so as to be in contact with the electrode part 14a of the resistive heating element 14. The pressure roller 12 is also used to maintain the contact of the electrode part 14a and the power supply brush 20. Thus, since a particular pressing member is not used, load is not applied to the heat generation belt and running of the belt does not become unstable, and the heat of the heat generation belt is not absorbed by the pressing member.
