A light axis adjustment device for a vehicle headlight has a light axis adjuster, a vehicle inclination state detector with at least an ultrasonic transmitter and two ultrasonic receivers and an abnormality detector for detecting any abnormality in the inclination state detector (6) on the basis of the received ultrasonic signal. A control device (7) controls the light axis adjuster based on the output of the inclination state detector.
