PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate protective agent capable of sufficiently protecting a non-image part of a lithographic printing plate, and giving no adverse effect on printing performances such as inking performance. SOLUTION: The printing plate protective agent for the lithographic printing plate comprises≥1 mass% of a gelatin with an average molecular weight of≤30,000, and furthermore includes a polyalkylene glycol alkyl ether.
