<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means to enhance electrode performance by manufacturing an electrode at sufficiently high temperatures without impairing electrode activity of LaNi(Fe)O<SB>3</SB>. <P>SOLUTION: Prior to operation of a solid oxide fuel cell having lanthanum nickelate obtained by doping iron as an electrolyte and scandia stabilized zirconia obtained by doping scandia stabilized zirconia or metallic oxide, a fixed current operated treatment is applied by increasing a current step by step until a cell voltage becomes stabilized at 0.1-0.25 V. Since an air electrode can be sintered at high temperatures at which LNF is sintered, and an excellent electrode/electrolyte interface is formed without lowering electrode performance, long term stability of a cell can be enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
