SOLUTION: The liquid developer used in an image forming apparatus in which an electrostatic latent image formed on a latent image carrier is developed, transferred onto a recording medium and fixed, is prepared as follows: a composition containing a binder resin, a colorant and an electrostatic charge controlling agent comprising an ionic or neutral substance supported on an inorganic porous material is kneaded, pulverized and dispersed in a carrier liquid.
