<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, the heating-up characteristic of which is improved and in which the grain growth of a noble metal is restrained by depositing the noble metal directly on a honeycomb base material. <P>SOLUTION: This catalyst is manufactured by depositing Pt2 directly on the honeycomb base material 1 and forming a clathrate body 3 on Pt2, which covers Pt2 and consists of a porous oxide. As a result, since a coating layer is not formed on the whole surface of this catalyst, the heat capacity of this catalyst can be decreased by the volume equivalent to that of the coating layer and the grain growth of Pt2 can be restrained by the body 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
