摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size while maintaining output of a diesel engine. SOLUTION: An intake valve 6 and an exhaust valve 7 are erectly arranged, and while parallelly and adjacently arranging an intake camshaft 2 and an exhaust camshaft 3 for engaging with a shaft end part of these valves via valve lifters 4 and 5 by keeping a rotatably driveable inter-shaft distance without mutual interference, a shaft of the respective valves 6 and 7 is eccentrically arranged on the combustion chamber axis Oc side to shafts OLi and OLe of the valve lifters 4 and 5 for engaging with the respective valves 6 and 7 eccentrically arranged on the combustion chamber axis side to the shafts of the valve lifters 4 and 5. Thus, the valves 6 and 7 can be erectly arranged in a combustion chamber without imparting an included angle to the mutual valve shafts, and the size can be reduced while securing engine output.
