The inlet manifold (10) consists of a moulded tubular fresh air intake duct (12) connected to a feed block (14) with outlets (16) aligned with cylinder head inlet ducts. It has an inlet (18) for recycled exhaust gases and a Venturi tube (26) fitted coaxially into the fresh air intake duct so that their forward ends (28, 30) coincide. The rear end or neck (32) of the Venturi tube is situated to the rear of the exhaust gas inlet so that it creates a suction zone (33) for the exhaust gases with the fresh air intake duct wall.
