PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To index and accurately adjust a sewing line p4 and a cutting line p5 to an upper front edge part shape of a Tatami mat regardless of nonuniformity of the height of the edge part of a Tatami bed (w) and the upper front edge part e2 of a Tatami facing w1 and the difficulty of discriminating a hue. SOLUTION: This automatic Tatami bed edge sewing and cutting device has a sewing cutting head 2 sent and moved in the longitudinal direction f1 on a machine underframe 1B and also movable in the lateral direction f2, and operates so as to sew the upper front edge part e2 of the Tatami bed (w) placed and fixed in advance on and to the machine underframe 1B while sending and moving the sewing cutting head 2. A detecting object ruler 31 having a length reaching the total length of the Tatami bed (w) and bending a plurality of specific places in the middle of the length, is arranged in one place in the longitudinal direction f1 of the machine underframe 1B. While fixing a sensor 15 to the sewing cutting head 2 for detecting one side edge 31a of the detecting object ruler 31, the sewing cutting head 2 is laterally moved on the basis of detecting information of the sensor 15.
