1,233,100. Fuel cell electrode. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 23 Dec., 1968 [26 Dec., 1967], No. 61073/68. Addition to 1,231,630. Heading H1B. A fuel cell electrode comprises a noble metal or noble metal alloy dispersed on substrate particles of chromium-tungsten oxide which are stuck together and to a current collector with an adhesive. The current collector may be a wire mesh. The substrate may also include particles of graphite or carbon with boron dissolved in it and boron carbide. The noble metal or alloy may be Pt or a Pt/Ru alloy. It may be applied by dispersing the substrate in a solution of a noble metal salt and decomposing the salt. The binder may be P.T.F.E. The electrode may be used as anode. The cathode may be a mixture of Pt and P.T.F.E. on a screen current collector both electrodes having their gas face coated with P.T.F.E. The fuel may be a mixture of H 2 , CO, CO 2 and CH 4 . The oxidant may be O 2 . The electrolyte may be H 2 50 4 . |
