PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus capable of accurately moving a recording medium even when delivering distance in the sub-scanning direction of the recording medium is a large distance. SOLUTION: The inkjet recording apparatus has a recording head H for discharging ink drops toward the recording medium P from a plurality of nozzles, a recording head moving means for moving the recording head H along a main scanning direction, a recording medium moving means for moving the recording medium P along the sub-scanning direction, a mark recording means for recording a specified mark M on the recording medium P by discharging ink drops from at least either one nozzle in a process for moving the recording head H by the recording head moving means, and a mark detecting means 16 arranged by a definite distance to the recording medium P and moved with the recording head H by the recording head moving means and detecting the mark M recorded by the mark recording means. The amount of movement of the recording medium P by the recording medium moving means is determined by a position where the mark detecting means 16 detects a signal to be detected as a standard.
