PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of maintaining an imaging function on a constant level even if the residual quantity of a battery drops. SOLUTION: This image pickup device 1 is provided with the battery 4 for operating the image pickup device 1, a battery residual quantity detecting part 9 for detecting the residual quantity of the battery 4, an imaging part 2 having an optical system, etc., for performing imaging, a driving part 3 for changing an imaging position of the imaging part 2 and an imaging position storing part 11 for storing a prescribed imaging position. When the battery residual quantity detecting part 9 detects that the residual quantity of the battery 4 drops down to a prescribed first level, the imaging part 2 is shifted to the prescribed imaging position stored in the imaging position storing part 11, and the operation of the driving part 3 is subsequently restricted.
