The male tapered end part (3) of the tube (1) is tapered to a degree which is less than or equal to the sum of the wall thickness of the tubular part (2) of the tube and the height of the screw thread (6). A groove (7) is formed in the male end part by a protrusion (8) extending in the inwards direction of the tube. A screw thread is provided over part of the length of the male end part on the outer side of the latter. Another length section (5) of the male end part is cylindrical. The transition region between the tubular and tapered parts is substantially conical shaped (4). An elastically deformable ring (15), e.g. an O-ring can be located in the groove. The male end part is designed to be engaged with a corresponding female end part.
