PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove a bubble introduced into an ink introduction needle through sucking operation. SOLUTION: When a new ink cartridge is set, a control section operates a pump unit under such a state as the nozzle forming surface is sealed with a cap member to introduce ink into a recording head (S1). Upon elapsing a time interval (S2) after ending introduction of ink, the control section performs an operation for discharging a bubble in an ink introduction needle (S3). A bubble entering the ink introduction needle through ink introducing operation exists while being subdivided immediately after entering the needle, and the subdivided bubbles are eventually combined during a subsequent time interval (S2). Since a relatively large combined bubble is sucked in the bubble discharging operation (S3), the bubble can be discharged surely. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
