PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of processing a biological sample contained in a liquid. SOLUTION: The method comprises (a) a step of introducing the liquid into a chamber of a reaction vessel 11, (b) a step of positioning the reaction vessel 11 in a vessel holder, with the positioning being effected before or after the introduction of the liquid into the chamber, and (c) a step of moving the vessel holder along a predetermined trajectory for causing relative motion of the liquid contained in the chamber, with respect to the active surface of a chip-shaped carrier 21.
