PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To configure a light source so as to have high light output over a comparatively long operation phase, as compared to those of the prior art.

SOLUTION: In the light source (1) having a form comprising at least one LED (2) for sending out primary beams (4) and at least one emitter converter (3) for converting the primary beams (4) into secondary beams (5), the emitter converter is a polycrystalline ceramic body, and a part of or the whole of the polycrystalline ceramic body acts as the emitter, and at least part of the base material forming the ceramic body is activated by doping materials.
