PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate for an optical recording medium which is uniformly coated with a resin, is stocked in a stable state while saving space, transported by an existing transport mechanism even in the nonhardened state of the coated resin, and a loading center hole can be formed without burs. SOLUTION: In the intermediate ME1 for an optical recording medium which is manufactured prior to manufacturing the optical recording medium in which a loading center hole has been formed and a mechanism layer on one surface to carry out at least one of recording and reproducing of information, a circular recess DE with a diameter equal to that of the loading center hole is formed in the center of the other surface, a temporary center hole TH smaller in diameter than the circular recess DE is formed in the center of the circular recess DE, a cylindrical ring RI which has an outside diameter smaller than that of the loading center hole, an inside diameter equal to/larger than the diameter of the temporary center hole TH, and is substantially concentric with the temporary center hole TH is projectedly fromed one surface.
