The present invention relates to a housing, in particular for the installation of electrical and electronic components, consisting of a housing lower section and a cover, fixable thereto, whereby the cover and housing lower section are connected to each other in a hinged manner, by means of at least two flexible inner elements, arranged at a separation from each other outside the sealed inner chamber of the housing. Conventional housings of this type have the disadvantage that the hinge-like connection of housing lower section and cover is relatively costly. The aim of the invention is to provide a less costly solution for the above. Said aim is achieved whereby the ends (19.1), (19.2) of the flexible inner element (19) have greater cross-section than the region lying between said ends, whereby at least one of the ends (19.2) is elastically embodied for a temporary reduction in cross-section. Through openings (17, 18), leading into each other, are provided in the cover (3) and in the housing lower section (2), the cross-section of which permits access of the at least one end (19.2) in the compressed state, which, after access through the corresponding through opening (17, 18), increases in cross-section again on elastic relaxation.
