PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oscillator capable of increasing a negative resistance value without raising a price, and to provide an electronic device using the oscillator. SOLUTION: The oscillator is provided with three negative resistance circuits 2, 11 and 12 connected in multiple stages and a crystal vibrator X1 as a resonance circuit connected to the negative resistance circuit 2 of the initial stage. The three negative resistance circuits 2, 11 and 12 are all the circuits for which an inductive impedance means is excluded from a Colpitts circuit and are connected in the multiple stages in the form of transmitting signals from the collector of the transistor of a preceding stage to the base of the transistor of the next stage, the base of the transistor Q1 of the negative resistance circuit 2 of the initial stage is grounded in terms of high frequencies through the crystal vibrator X1 equivalent to the resonance circuit and the collector of the transistor Q4 of the negative resistance circuit 12 of the final stage is ground in terms of the high frequencies. Even when the negative resistance of each negative resistance circuit is not high, since the negative resistance as the whole becomes high by connecting them in three stages, the oscillation margin of the oscillator is increased without raising the price and the oscillation start time after supplying power is shortened.
