PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating matter incursion preventive method and its device immediately and surely executing countermeasures against the overflow without costing much expenses. SOLUTION: An impeller 12 set in a branch channel 3 branching from a river 1 is rotated by overflowing water resulting from the abnormal rise of the river 1, and torque of the impeller 12 is transferred to a rotary disc screen 5 mounting a large number of discs 7 to a shaft 6 set in the boundary between the river 1 and the branch channel 3 at regular intervals to rotate the disc screen 5 to prevent the incursion of the floating matter flowing down the river 1 into the branch channel 3.
