PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data backup technique, without burdening the CPU of an information processing unit or without affecting write processing, due to processings other than the backup processing, when backing up data stored in a storage device of the information processing unit comprising a storage device with redundant constitution. SOLUTION: One among a plurality of storage devices is detached from a coordinated operation, and a content update command for the storage device is stored in other storage device. The contents of the storage device is copied into a backup device. After copying is finished, the contents of the storage device is updated by referring the stored content update command, to return to the coordinated operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
