<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an imaging apparatus in which power consumption can be reduced by making possible to alter the operating frequency of a CPU optimally for respective functions. <P>SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus, a CPU 3 confirms the mounting of a board onto a printer option 11 and alters the operating frequency depending on whether the board is present or not. For different function or machine type of the imaging apparatus, the operating frequency is set by means of a DIPSW 10.
