The method involves determining whether a slave appliance includes an individual user interface information and function information. The function information is sent from the slave appliance to a master appliance if it is determined that the slave appliance includes the function information. Communication is performed between the master and slave appliances based on the received function information. An Independent claim is also included for a communication system comprising master and slave appliances.
