PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an investigating precision of a damage position on piping. SOLUTION: A piping breakage investigating apparatus includes a signal generating means 3 for generating a sound wave, a plurality of sound wave transmitting means 4a, 4b installed in the piping 2 for transmitting the sound wave generated by the means 3, a plurality of sound wave receiving means 5a, 5b installed oppositely to the means 4a, 4b in the piping 2 for receiving the sound wave, a measuring means 6 for simultaneously measuring space propagation characteristics between the means 5a and 5b based on signals detected by the means 5a, 5b by simultaneously generating the sound waves from the means 4a, 4b, and a calculating means 7 for calculating a reflected wave propagating time generated at a damage position 1 on the piping 2 based on the space propagating characteristics measured by the means 6. Thus, the damage position 1 on the piping 2 is specified based on the reflected wave propagation time calculated by the means 7, a sound speed, and a distance between the means 5a and 5b.
