A method for diagnostic uses for identifying the risk of onset of cardiac decompensations. The method comprises the analysis of the gene expression profile in a biological sample in order to identify genes that are normally active in the myocardial differentiation of stem cells that belong to at least one of the classes of (A) genes involved in myocardial development and Goth, (B) genes that trigger apoptotic cell death, and (C) genes involved in myocardial cell survival mechanisms.
