PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mouthpiece which reduces the sound volume of sounds emitted from a wind instrument in playing the wind instrument and to provide a silent mouthpiece for the wind instrument which reduces sounds themselves emitted from the wind instrument though conventionally being devised so as not to leak around loud sounds emitted from the wind instrument. SOLUTION: A mouthpiece (2) which is attached to a trumpet being a brass-wind instrument and is blown or a mouthpiece (3) which is attached to a saxophone being a woodwind instrument and is blown is manufactured with a dislocated damping alloy, a twin crystal damping alloy, a ferromagnetic damping alloy, or the like (a metal which suppresses and damps a given impact or vibration of sounds) and composite damping materials to provide the mouthpiece for wind instruments.
